Crock Pot Spaghetti Sauce recipe

1lb ground meat
1 cap full Mrs Dash Garlic & Herb seasoning (or store brand version)
1 tsp basil
1 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp thyme
2 small bay leaves
1 29 oz can of tomatoe sauce
1 14.5 oz can of stewed & diced tomatoes w/ italian seasoning (basil & onion & etc.)
1 6 oz can of tomatoe paste

Brown ground meat on the stove and drain off the fat...then dump it in the crockpot.

dump in the seasonings and the tomatoe products. Add a good shake of salt, 10 grinds of pepper & some sugar. Stir well. (sorry I was just dumping stuff in there yesterday!)

cover crock pot, set on warm and go on your field trip!

when you return 5 1/2 hours later to a house smelling yummy, crank up the crock pot to high and add about a cup of the pasta water.

For the veggie lovers... forget the ground meat and try adding your favorite veggies instead (w/o the browning!) I get this italian mix of frozen veggies that would work great it has zucchini, flat green beans & carrots...yum!

  1. Thank you so much for including a crock pot recipe on your blog. My sister and I just bought crock pots, and I've been lamenting over what I can make in mine. Will try this recipe sometime this week:~)

  2. I'm with Lynn...thanks for the recipe! Now if I can only get myself to go to the dining room table, open the box, pull out the new crockpot, wash it and then start using it, I'd be in spaghetti dinner heaven.

  3. Definitely sounds yummy. I'd never thought about using pasta water, good idea. Sounds like Darly had fun at her party!

  4. lynn: you're welcome. I hope you enjoy your sauce.

joan: I can't help you with that. ;o)

leigh: It was one of those "Mother Necessity" moments...I needed about a cup of hot water and I had a boiling pot of pasta. DH usually gets scared at those moments, but I've never had a problem before.

  5. I so need to get a crock pot. I've been meaning to for a while, and I just never do for some reason.

  6. Carmen: I must be a crock pot queen or something. I've got a 4 1/2 qt, a 3 qt, a 1 1/2 qt and a gravy warmer.

I originally got the 1 1/2 qt as a heater for dips, but then realized that you can actually cook in it, it has the same controls as my 4 1/2 qt...very nice.

Slow cookers come with recipe books, but be careful I tried this one and my dinner was MUSH! Foods that normally don't take a lot of time to cook, shouldn't go in there.

  7. Cool! I have been dying to find a good crockpot sauce recipe!!
